Walking distance
Beaches - Playa de Los Naufraugos and Playa del Acequion are both within 10 minutes walking distance (with children). The water is shallow and you can walk out safely with your children for quite a distance. There are also other beaches within walking distance further north including Playa del Cura and Playa de los Locos.
Shops - The town centre is a 5-10 minute walk away where you will find numerous shops typical of a town centre. Within a couple of minutes walk are small grocery shops and a good pharmacy. Approximately 10 minutes drive away is the hypermarket Carrefour and 5 minutes up the road is the Spanish supermarket giant Mercadona. There is also a brand new shopping mall called The Habaneras only a short drive away or a 10 minute walk.
Markets - The Friday market is one of the largest street markets in Spain and is something to behold. There is also a permanant daily tourist market by the marina which remains open until late evening.
Other Attractions - The marina is a popular place to walk around. There are numerous bars and restaurants there as well as the tourist market, a fairground behind the market and a very long pier. The apartment is also situated within a five minute walk of the Park of Nations covering an area of twenty thousand square-metres and totally fenced-in. This is dedicated to the nations of Europe and has a good playground, a childrens' train in the summer and a small boating lake. There are also geese, ducks, ganders and three thousand coloured carp. The local Mediterranean vegetation is abundant.
Driving Distances
Beaches - The Costa Blanca is one of the cleanest coasts in Europe and there are numerous blue flag beaches both north and south of Torrevieja including Guardamar, La Mata, Oriheula and many, many more. There is also La Zenia beach which is a small sheltered bay. There is the huge La Zenia hotel here with a restaurant/bar overlooking the Med. You can enjoy a cool drink here with glorious views out to sea. Most beaches are within 15-20 minutes away by car.
Golf - There are numerous golf courses within easy driving distance. Please see the Useful Links page for some of the better known courses.
Other Attractions - There are numerous outdoor activites to be enjoyed including water sports, horse riding, go karting and walking. Approximately a 5-10 minute drive away is the Aquapolis water park. An hour to the north is Benidorm with such attractions as Aqualandia and Mundo Mar.
